Our Story

I'm Elijah, one of the proud owners of AGF Farms, a family-owned farm. I'm honored to share our story with you and express our gratitude for your interest in our products. We take immense pride in what we produce and the joy of bringing our farm's experience to those who care about the quality of the food they put on their tables and into their bodies. If you're curious to learn more, please join me, and I'll take you through the AGF Farms lifestyle.

Our story begins in 2004, when my dad, Dan, who is the other owner, wanted to raise his kids, including my brother Christian, who is also an owner, and me, in a way that instilled in us a deep love for the land we call home. Dan sought to impart a strong work ethic and share the joy he experienced growing up on a farm. We found an old, weed-covered farm in a small Georgia town, which would soon become our home. The land was so densely covered in weeds and thistles that you couldn't walk without disappearing into the unknown. Dan wasted no time in teaching us to drive tractors, which quickly expanded to working on and fixing them. We learned the value of respect for all things and how to troubleshoot issues that aroseā€¦..

We feed all of our animals with the very same grain we grow so we know exactly what your getting.

After months of relentless hard work, we managed to transform the land, building a house, a shop, and fields from the previously battered terrain. This transformation brought out the best and the worst in all of us, as we learned to build on each other's strengths and offer help when we faced our weaknesses. My brother Christian was the first to fall in love with agriculture. He immersed himself in farming to the point where it seemed like he ate, breathed, and even dreamed about the farm. His talent for operating machinery, even in old 1980s tractors, was remarkable. As his operating skills grew, so did his knowledge and wisdom about the business side of farming. He often seemed to anticipate our dad's next move before he even articulated it. Christian's passion for the farm and his dedication to the work inspired me to follow suit. I began farming and working with machinery, and with the guidance and teachings of our incredible father and passionate brother, I, too, developed a love for the land and the work we did.

Despite all the hard work we put into AGF Farms, it started as a hobby farm. We initially grew soybeans, hay, and cotton, not foreseeing that it would become anything more than a pastime. As we got older and the farm expanded, it seemed like Christian would eventually take over and develop it as his own. He left to work for a nearby farmer to gain more experience and further hone his capabilities. I made a career change, attending college to study business, while Dan built chicken houses with the goal of securing a better future for the farm. With family members leaving for other opportunities and another business to run, Dan decided to shift the focus to commercial hay production, leveraging his expertise and expanding in that direction. He continued to nurture his passion for farming and uphold the values of integrity, making AGF Farms one of the finest hay farms in Georgia, attracting customers from all over the region.

Our success was short-lived as hardship struck and the other company began to face difficulties. In order to protect what he had built, Dan had to sell the other business and concentrate his efforts on the farm to support the family. This dramatic change in business direction meant that Christian had to adjust his plans and work elsewhere, as the farm alone couldn't sustain him and his family, or the rest of us. What was once a united passion and love for the farm became a necessity. Despite these changes, we stayed close, meeting on Sunday afternoons to discuss ways to bring our families back to the farm and envision what our lives would look like when we were back together.

Our constant hope of working together again was answered in unexpected ways. Dan, the man we all looked up to and admired, received the devastating news that he had pancreatic cancer. It was a piece of news we never wanted and were unprepared for. With little knowledge of how severe it was and only Google to guide us on how much time we might have left with our dad, Christian and I made a firm decision. Regardless of the circumstances, we were determined to honor our dad and rejoin the farm to ensure the well-being of the rest of the family. We took this news and the deep desire to preserve our dad's legacy, setting a new goal for the farm: to reunite our family and not only support our own families but also extend our support to other families.

Now, both of us are back on the farm, and our dad, Dan, has undergone surgery and received a clean bill of health with only chemo left to complete his fight. We have been incredibly blessed with his recovery, as well as with the opportunities that have emerged for the farm. We not only support families with the animals we raise and the hay we grow to sustain them, but we have diversified our activities to include construction dirt work, clean energy initiatives such as planting grass for erosion control and partnering with solar farms, and collaboration with an amazing co-op called United Agrivoltaics. This co-op has opened up even more opportunities, leading to the creation of our USA Solar Sourced products. Every product we offer has been raised on a solar farm in the USA, contributing to clean energy production for the nation and reducing the carbon footprint associated with traditional vegetation maintenance on solar sites.

Our innovative work integrates sheep grazing, bee pollination, corn cultivation for popcorn, and more, all while ensuring the land is cared for with the same integrity and gratitude we were taught as children and that we will pass on to our families and yours. The passion for family, farming, and sustainability drives us to provide a taste of our commitment to as many families as possible. AGF Farms has evolved to become a symbol of our dedication to the land and our passion for agriculture.
